Annual Plant Sale in Lyndhurst
Once again (last Saturday 12th May) the fabulous annual plant and cake sale broke its own fundraising record and raised a staggering £3,600 for Connect2 Ethiopia.
Henry Rosenvinge who organised the sale told us “The sun shone, the people came out in support, the village traffic came to a deadlock, there were queues at the gate and at the refreshments, there was much chatter and lots of smiles, the CAFOD banners fluttered in the breeze, and the Sale raised over £3,600 for Connect2 Ethiopia which is another record for us.”
A HUGE THANK YOU to Henry and Nuala and all the volunteers who supported the sale by growing plants, making cakes and helping to sell on the day. Many thanks to all those who came along and bought plants and cakes.
In our Connect2 community in Sebeya, in northern Ethiopia, drought threatens hundreds of families who rely on farming for survival. CAFOD is helping vulnerable households with food and seeds, new water points and dams for irrigation.

Many thanks to Tania Dalton CAFOD’s Latin America Communications Officer for sharing her expertise and knowledge on the life of blessed Oscar Romero and CAFOD’s work in El Salvador at the Portsmouth Hispanic society’s meeting at Fratton Community centre last week.
Diane Hiley, Chairman of the society said “Thank you very much indeed for giving us such an interesting presentation, and as I said, so heartening to know of the dedicated work by good people in such bad circumstances.”
A HUGE thank you to the Portsmouth Hispanic Society for their very generous donation of £215 towards CAFOD’s work.
Would your parish like to Connect 2 a community in El Salvador? Punetecitos is a rural village in the west of El Salvador and the people are improving community life through organic farming methods and opening small businesses. Your parish can join Connect 2 by signing up on the website. Then a welcome pack will be sent with information about the community and ideas on how to fund raise. Regular updates are sent from the community so that the parish can see the difference their donations are making and there is also an opportunity for the parish to respond by to send cards and photos back so that the two communities become connected.
St Edward’s Bring & Buy sale
Many thanks to the fantastic CAFOD group at St Edward’s church Chandler’s Ford for organising a Bring & Buy to raise money for Connect2 Peru on Wednesday 17th May. Many people supported the event by bringing in items to sell such as books, jams, honey and cakes. Tea and coffee was provided so that the shoppers could have a well earned rest and an amazing £400 was raised to help CAFOD projects in Peru. Continue reading
