Thank you so much to all the students at Blessed Hugh Faringdon Secondary school in Reading for raising the amazing amount of £1293.20 for CAFOD over the year. Linda Heneghan, our school volunteer for the Reading area was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of CAFOD at the 60th Anniversary and Commissioning mass at the school last Friday 13th July.

I would also like to thank the students from Year 12 who successfully completed the CAFOD Young Leadership Programme this year for organising fundraising events and  raising awareness about the work of CAFOD .

Many thanks to our CAFOD Young Leaders at Blessed Hugh Faringdon Secondary school Reading for leading PSHE sessions on the Power to Be Campaign.  Every child has the power in them to achieve great things. But with one in six people still living without electricity, the hopes of millions of the world’s children are too often a distant dream.

Local, renewable energy is usually the cheapest, fastest and most efficient solution to bring power to the poorest communities. It can help families to lift themselves out of poverty, without harming the world we share. The Power to Be Campaign is calling on the World Bank to ensure access to renewable energy for the world’s poorest people.

You can sign a petition to the World Bank here and order resources for parishes here.
