Our First Meeting with an MP has taken place!

Volunteers from parishes in Maidenhead constituency planning their meeting with Theresa May

Thank you to Laura our campaign volunteer at St Edmund Campion Maidenhead for organising a meeting with Theresa May MP for Maidenhead on Thursday 20th May as part of our Parliament in your Parish campaign.

Laura told me ” Myself and four other CAFOD supporters from the Maidenhead constituency (Eoin Sharkey, Liz Falconer, Eilish MacBean and Mary Johnston) had a Zoom meeting with our MP Theresa May about CAFOD’s “Reclaim Our Common Home” campaign. Together we represented all the parishes in our constituency: St Joseph and St Edmund Campion in Maidenhead, St Thomas More in Twyford, St John Bosco in Woodley and Our Lady of Peace in Wargrave.

We were able to raise all the main issues of the campaign: debt cancellation, climate change and the aid budget and briefly discuss each one of our concerns with Mrs May.

It is always a great privilege to be able to speak to those in power about the issues that really matter and to give a voice to our brothers and sisters in developing countries who couldn’t otherwise be heard. We would certainly encourage our fellow CAFOD supporters in other constituencies to book a meeting with their MP (especially as the UK plays such an important role on the international stage this year)!  “

We hope that more people will join together to arrange a meeting with their MP so if you are interested please contact Jo on portsmouth@cafod.org.uk
