What a great day we had yesterday with CAFOD Young leaders from Christ the King College Isle of Wight, Farnborough Hill, Salesian College Farnborough, The Marist School Ascot, St Anne’s Southampton and St Joseph College Reading. Many thanks to Sinead Callaghan CAFOD’s Young Leadership Coordinator for leading the day and to The Marist school for hosting.
After a few icebreaker the Young Leaders shared how they raised awareness about CAFOD in their schools last term for example delivering assemblies, creating a display, having a stall at the Christmas Fair. Next they explore CAFOD’s values and shared their motivations for becoming a young leaders. After a lovely lunch provided by The Marist they learnt about how CAFOD supports Human Rights Defenders and the important role these people play in their communities as they try to protect their homes and land. Finally they planned their fund raising events for the Spring term. They had some exciting ideas ranging from sponsored events to competitions to students vs staff football matches!
Many thanks to the staff who accompanied the Young Leaders and support them throughout the year and we look forward to hearing how their fundraising activities go!
