Many thanks to the pupils from St Edmund Campion Primary school in Maidenhead for speaking at mass last weekend about CAFOD Lent family fast day.

The children told the parishioners the story of Mahinur, who is a fisher woman from Bangladesh . Last year a drought killed all the fish in the river which meant that Mahinur and her family had very little to eat. In order to support her disabled husband and son she had to do odd jobs for neighbours to get some rice but it was not enough . Some days the family only had water for dinner. Currently there is no happy ending for Mahinur and her family because this is the situation they face today.

So this Lent fast day please have simple meal or give up a treat and donate to CAFOD so that families like Mahinur’s may receive the help they need.

Eat simply so that others may simply eat!
