Thank You for holding a Soup Lunch on Harvest Fast day

Soup lunch at St Joseph Maidenhead.

Many thanks to all our parish volunteers who organised a soup lunch last Friday on Harvest family fast day at these churches :-

St Edmund Campion Bournemouth

Our Lady Immaculate Westbourne

Our Lady Queen of Peace Southbourne

Corpus Christi Wokingham

St Edward the Confessor Chandler’s Ford

St Thomas of Canterbury Cowes Isle of Wight

St Wilfrid’s Ventnor Isle of Wight

St Joseph’s Maidenhead

Patrick from St Joseph’s told me “About 30 parishioners attended the lunch and enjoyed a lovely get-together for a good old chat whilst enjoying their soup and roll. Father John Lee blessed the meal and thanked everyone for their attendance as well as endorsing the excellent work that CAFOD provides in support of communities that strive to support themselves.”

Donna from St Edmund Campion Church  told me “The soup lunch was supported by 40 people and raised £240 with the help of their local Tesco which donated, rolls, tea, coffee and biscuits towards the event.”

Clare from St Edward the Confessor told me that £102.40 was raised at their soup lunch.

Holding a soup lunch is a great way to be in solidarity with those around the world who do not have enough to eat  or the choice of food that we have. Our family fast days enable us to reflect on how much we have and the choices we can make compared to our brothers and sisters living in poverty around the world.

Soup lunches can also be a great sociable and fun way to raise funds for CAFOD. So please consider holding one for Lent fast day Friday 15th march 2019!
