It was great to see so many of our parish volunteers at the Lent fast day briefing at St Bede’s Church hall on Saturday 3rd Feb and many thanks to Sally Kitchener who is CAFOD’s Fundraising Communications Officer for her excellent talk about her visit to Zimbabwe . As one of the attendees wrote on their evaluation form “Sally made the situation come to life.”
We heard from Sally about the families like Marian whose lives had changed because of the generous donations from previous fast days. She also told us about Peter and Fiona who struggle to feed their two children. But hopefully with funding from this year’s Lent fast day appeal CAFOD’s’ partners will be able to set up a community garden in Peter and Fiona’s village so that they can grow vegetables for their children.
Many thanks to Tony, Mary, Imelda and Veronika for all their help with organising the meeting at St Bede’s and to all those who came.
We have one Lent fast day briefing left on Thursday 8th February from 7:15pm to 9:15pm at English Martyrs Church Reading RG30 2EB So do come along.
If you are unable to make any of the briefings then Chris Driscoll our CPC from Brentwood diocese is leading webinars about Lent fast day so just click on the link to register to listen to one of them.
