Getting Hands On for Harvest!

Thank you to all the CAFOD supporters and volunteers from across the diocese who joined us on Saturday for our Supporters’ Meeting!  It was fantastic to see so many of you there!   Go CAFOD Portsmouth!

We had a great talk on CAFOD’s livelihoods work in Bolivia (our focus country this Harvest) from Sally Kitchener, our Communications and Fundraising Writer.

Libby Abbott then gave us a fab update from the Campaigns team too on the Lampedusa Cross inspired messages of hope, the refugee solidarity liturgy and the Speak Up Week of Action!

It was an ideal opportunity to go through all our Harvest resources too and discover our new Hands On project – Hands On Altiplano!

If you couldn’t join us this year, please take a moment to download a special Harvest briefing to help you prepare for Harvest Fast Day (7 October).  The main weekend of action for giving out the Fast Day envelopes and giving the short talk is usually the weekend before (so 1st and 2nd October) – but do check all this with Father first of course.

And don’t forget to join us online on Fast Day itself and hear from Nikki Evans, Programme Officer for Bolivia. There are two webinars, one at lunchtime and one in the evening:

Join our lunchtime webinar at 1pm – 2pm: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1137293422374601217

Join our evening webinar at 7pm – 8pm: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4134195982320005121

Thank you so much everyone!  Special thanks to all our speakers, to Sally and Libby – and to Leah – our Regional Communications Intern – who managed to capture some of you on film too so watch this space!   Thank you too to Virginia O’Kelly, Mary Huntley and Imelda Pye who helped us with registration and with the all important refreshments on the day.
