Cakes going, going, gone at St Bede’s, Basingstoke

Cake Sale St Bede's Basingstoke Lent 2016

Nearly sold out at St Bede’s cake sale!

Bakers at St Bede’s Basingstoke held a cake sale last Sunday after Mass and it was so popular – it was very soon nearly sold out!  Our CAFOD volunteer, Veronika Budzynski, arrived just in time to take this photo of the last few remaining cakes!

Many thanks to the bakers who baked all these treats and the parishioners who bought them – as all proceeds will go to our Lenten Appeal.

Cake Sale St Bede's Basingstoke Lent 2016 (1280x840)

Many thanks to St Bede’s CAFOD supporters.

The money raised will help our partners ‘Turn on the Taps’ across the world by repairing or providing water pumps and training in order to maintain them. It will also help fund hygiene programmes, education in sanitation and the building of latrines.

And what’s even better – all the funds raised will have double the impact this year because we have secured UK Aid Match Funding for our Lenten appeal. This means that the UK government will match pound for pound every donation made to the appeal – up to the value of £3.5M.  Terrific!

Thank you so much everyone at St Bede’s for helping our partners provide clean water and better sanitation for thousands of people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, and Uganda.
