Recycling Gifts Help Turn on the Taps

St Bede's unwanted gifts lent 2016 (1280x1280)

Ever wondered what to do with those unwanted birthday or Christmas gifts you still have hanging around the house?   Well, here’s a rather ingenious idea!  Last Sunday, St Bede’s Church in Basingstoke held an ‘unwanted gifts’ sale in aid of our Lenten appeal! This annual event has been very successful for the past two years, and it’s great to know that so many unwanted gifts have found a loving new home!  Well done to organisers Joy Murphy and Barbara King (pictured)!

As you know, all these special events held in parishes between 10 Feb – 9 May will have double the impact this year because we have once again successfully secured UK Aid Match Funding for our Lenten appeal. This means that the UK government will match pound for pound every donation made to the appeal – up to the value of £3.5M. Terrific!

Thank you so much to everyone at St Bede’s for helping our partners ‘Turn on the taps’ for thousands of people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, and Uganda.

Fancy running your own fundraising event?  Take a look at our host of fundraising ideas and ‘how to guides’ and don’t forget to take a photo of your event for the blog!
