Are you making pancakes today or tonight? Well – last Sunday our fab CAFOD team of volunteers at St Joseph’s and St Edmund’s parish in Southampton organised a super pancake and sweet cake sale after their 9am and 11am Masses raising a whopping £180!
The wonderful team of people that ran this event comprised of Judy; who managed the kitchen, Jude; master of the teas and coffees, Marina; who conducted the Fairtrade tombola, and Vicki, who sold all of the delicious cakes!
The fundraising team made several of the cakes between them, but the stocks were greatly increased by many of the generous bakers among the parish and their friends and families. One of Jude’s friends even made fresh donuts after finishing her night-shift and delivered them still warm before going home to bed! Thank you so much!
To go along with teas and coffees, there were also delicious pancakes available on demand and a wide variety of cakes to choose from. There were also some larger cakes for sale which many people bought to take home and enjoy later.
Tickets for the tombola were 20p each and all of the prizes were Fairtrade – including chocolate, bags of sugar, sweets, jam and bananas!
The whole event was a great success as lots of parishioners came to buy and eat- and several people even stayed to help them all clear up afterwards, which was greatly appreciated.
A huge thank you to Vicki, Judy, Jude and Marina and everyone who was involved in supporting this terrific event.
