Young Leaders Prepare to Make a Splash!

Sixth Formers from 6 schools and colleges from all over our diocese met up again last week for their second day’s Youth Leadership training at Farnborough Hill.  The focus was on presentational skills as the team thought about the different ways they could communicate this year’s Fast Day story and the theme of water.

Inspired by the appeal (see our special film below), the young leaders had some great ideas to raise awareness of this issue including creating collages of water droplets, organising special liturgies for Ash Wednesday, holding Fast Day assemblies back in their own school or local primaries and using the CAFOD Lenten calendar in form groups.

They also came up with fundraising ideas such as speaking at Mass, putting on concerts, a basketball tournament and even a swimathon – which would see students attempting to swim the distance between the UK and Uganda (our focus country for Fast Day!)

Brilliant!

Thank you to Farnborough Hill for hosting such a great day (and a fab lunch!) and to all the teachers and students from St Joseph’s College (Reading), St Anne’s (Southampton), Salesians College (Farnborough), Christ the King (Isle of Wight) and Oaklands (Waterlooville). It was great to see you all!

Do let us know how you all get on! And send us your photos!
