Over 200 people packed the fabulous Reading Irish Centre last Friday to show their support for a special fundraising evening organised by CAFOD volunteer Linda Heneghan from English Martyrs parish. The evening, which included wonderful dancing and singing, was all in aid of both CAFOD’s Refugee Crisis Appeal, the Reading Refugee Support Group and St James’ Refugee Project.
Entertainers included the English Martyrs Choir and a number of dance and singing acts – as well as a disco and a raffle!
All the staff, the Chair and Manager at The Reading Irish Centre were so supportive – generously donating the venue free of charge and a bottle of whiskey for the raffle! Thank you so much!
A staggering amount was raised (£2,062!!) Wow! Half the proceeds will go to CAFOD’s Refugee Crisis Appeal and the other half will be divided between the Reading Refugee Support Group and St James’ Refugee Project.
A massive thank you to Linda, the Reading Irish Centre, all our volunteers in parishes across Reading who sold tickets and encouraged everyone to come, all the performers who gave their time and energy to make it all a success and everyone who attended!
