Taxing brains for our Lenten appeal… in Ringwood

A huge thanks to the CAFOD group in Ringwood and Fordingbridge, who recently organised a very successful Quiz Night in aid of our Lenten appeal. Our parish volunteer Helen Eales reports:

“On 25th April a Quiz Night was held at Ringwood by the Ringwood and Fordingbridge CAFOD Group.

About 50 people came along and formed teams of 4-6 to pit their brains against the fiendish questions set by ‘Quizmaster’ Phil Rogers from the Fordingbridge parish, ably assisted by Teresa, his wife.

The spread of food was amazing and varied and the bar was kept busy all evening too.

There was fun during a break when we were all invited to lay down a £1 coin each to play True or False.  The winner took £10 and the residue of £37 went to the CAFOD funds.  We also held a raffle of some lovely prizes.

Together with the very reasonable ticket price of £5 a head the total raised was £545.  This will be matched by the UK government as part of the Lenten Appeal so it means £1070 pounds was raised in total. A splendid effort!”

We agree with Helen – thank you so much to the CAFOD group for organising such a successful evening and to those who came along and supported it. The group’s next fundraising effort will be on Saturday 12 September, when a Beetle Drive with a magic show in the interlude will be held (in the hall at Our Lady of Sorrows in Fordingbridge): it promises to be a great evening, put the date in your diaries now and we will publish more details in due course! Thanks again to everyone! 🙂
