Despite battling against the wind to set up our stall, we had a great time last Saturday morning at the Pagoda in Woodley town centre, promoting our One Climate, One World campaign with our fab volunteers Rita Belletty and Paul Draper from St John Bosco parish!
A wonderful display of over 300 “heart messages” in support of the campaign from St Dominic Savio primary school was erected on scaffolding by Paul and attracted a lot of attention! Passers-by and visitors to our stall were asked to either sign a campaign card (or take one home) and/or write on a heart-shaped Post-it (see pictures above) the thing they love most, for which they are committing to tackle climate change.
We also received a visit from local journalist Vivienne Johnson, who writes for local Christian magazine Xn and The Wokingham Times, where our campaign will be featured.
Several parishioners from St John Bosco and other local churches also came along to say hello and show their support. Some pupils from St Dominic Savio passing by with their parents recognised their heart messages on the display, which was lovely!
Overall, it was a really enjoyable morning. We couldn’t thank Rita and Paul enough for organising everything so well and for their continuous commitment to the campaign. Thanks also to their helpers who came along and to everyone who stopped at our stall and signed a card or a heart pledge! 🙂
You can support the campaign by taking our election action on our website, asking all party leaders to make climate change a priority for the sake of our neighbours worldwide, and by coming along to our mass lobby of Parliament for climate change on 17 June – don’t forget to register on our website here and let us know you are coming! We look forward to seeing you there!
