It’s back! Rita Belletty is organising another ‘Walk to Church Sunday’ this year at St John Bosco in Woodley on Whitsunday 24 May 2015! Let’s join in and get all our congregations out walking to church this year in recognition of our One Climate, One World campaign!
As many of you know, Rita has organised this for a few years now and it’s a very simple but effective initiative – initially started as one of the steps taken by the parish to achieve their livesimply award.
On a particular Sunday of the year (usually in the summer… in the hope of good weather!) parishioners who are able to, are encouraged to leave their cars home and walk to church instead in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. The hope is that, inspired by taking a nice Sunday morning walk, they might to do it again in the future!
For the past couple of years it’s been in July but that was quite hot so this year Rita’s gone for Whitsunday in remembrance of the ‘Whit Walks’ that used to take place in the North West.
This year’s poster is available here.
I’ll speak to Father Chris and see if we can join in too here in Aldershot. Come on folks! Let’s leave those cars at home and hit the pavements! Let us know if your church joins in too!
