Since meeting at our supporter’s meeting back in February, parishes in the Reading area have been busy organising a Reading-wide CAFOD fundraiser.
Linda Heneghan, one of our education volunteers, said: “We decided to hold at the supporters’ meeting to hold an international evening. It was the first opportunity we had to meet people from the pastoral area. We wanted to hold an event to raise the profile of CAFOD, raise some money, work together and have a fun evening.”
Each parish will be involved in providing the entertainment, with members performing a song or dance which represents a specific country. The English Martyrs Choir have already been confirmed to perform on the night!
Linda said: “It’ll be a great evening. We’re looking forward to coming together to celebrate the rich diversity of our community here in Reading and we want to help others across the world at the same time.”
We think it’s fantastic that parishes from all over Reading will be coming together for such a wonderful event! We’ll be updating you with more details on the International Evening very soon. In the meantime this is definitely a date to mark in your diary!
The international evening organised by the Reading parishes will take place on Friday 11 July at 8pm at the Reading Irish Centre, 96-104 Chatham St, Reading RG1 7HT.
