Fairtrade Fortnight: Andover Show their Support for Foncho and Fairtrade Farmers

Our wonderful supporters in Andover organised a Fairtrade Food sale last week and showed their support for Foncho and farmers around the world.

Jenny LeLean organised the event, which took place on Sunday 23 February at St John Baptist, Andover, as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.

They raised around £35 by selling Fairtrade cakes, tea and coffee. Guests were also treated to banana cake made with Fairtrade bananas, of course.

As well as selling lots of delicious Fairtrade treats, they also raised awareness about this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight campaign and gathered 40 signatures for the Stick with Foncho petition!

Well done to Jenny and everyone who made the Andover Fairtrade event possible!

Foncho, a Colombian banana farmer who is part of a Fairtrade certified co-operative, has been travelling the UK this Fairtrade Fortnight to gather support and signatures for his petition to end supermarket banana price wars. These price wars threaten farmers’ futures. If you haven’t signed Foncho’s petition already, and would like to, you can do so at foncho.fairtrade.org.uk.

Have you done something special for Fairtrade Fortnight? We’d like to hear from you, email us at portsmouth@cafod.org.uk.
