A big thanks to all of you (over 40 people, from all over the diocese) who gave up their time last Saturday to come along to our Supporters’ Meeting at St Bede’s Primary School in Basingstoke, in preparation for Harvest Fast Day.
It was a brilliant morning, thanks to our fantastic speakers who delivered such informative and inspiring talks.
Anne Lindsay from our Policy team, Lead Analyst for the Private Sector, gave an update about our work on “transparency” (one of the main asks of the Hungry for Change campaign) and how the efforts of many years of campaigning have started to bear fruit last summer with the passing of the EU Transparency Directive. She also talked about our current action focusing on the lobbying bill. Anne’s talk can be downloaded here.
Catherine Cowley, Emergency Support Officer, really brought to life our emergency response work thanks to her direct experiences in both Haiti and Syria, and first-hand stories about our work on the ground. Her talk can be downloaded here and the photo exhibition about our work in Haiti can be downloaded from our website (please contact us if you would like a colour copy printed in A3 or A4, for your parish noticeboard or any other parish event).
A huge thanks to both Anne and Cat for coming along and inspiring everyone!
The day was also an opportunity to catch up with the latest news from our diocese, to get a detailed briefing on the upcoming Harvest Fast Day on 4 October and an update about our Hungry for Change campaign and the wider Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign. The other presentations from the day can be downloaded here.
Thanks again to you all for coming, we hope you found the day helpful and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or comments.
We look forward to hearing from you in the forthcoming weeks to find out what is happening in your parishes for Harvest Fast Day – please get in touch!
