Walking the Camino for CAFOD

Our supporter Judith Maleski, from St Edmund’s parish in Southampton, is packing her bags for an extra-special trip this summer.

She will be walking the last 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain, to raise money for CAFOD.

This famous “route of the stars” takes pilgrims along the beautiful and peaceful, but rugged countryside across the North of Spain, ending at the extraordinary Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela – believed to be the resting place of the apostle St James. The route, which has existed for over a thousand years, offers a physical, mental and spiritual challenge for all who attempt it.

Jude said:

“I am walking the last 100 miles of the Camino to raise money for Cafod.  This agency works tirelessly to campaign and give hope to some of the world’s poorest communties and makes a real difference to people’s lives.  I would also like to pray and reflect on my own journey and how, like the Apostle James, I might live out my commitment to the Gospel of peace and justice. I am leaving on 21st August from Herrerias de Valcare and hopefully arriving at Santiago on 29th August.”

We wish Jude all the best for her Spanish adventure, and we look forward to hearing from her on her return!
