World Youth Day @ Home: an amazing opportunity!

WYDat home

Are you 16-30? Do not miss an amazing opportunity this summer to celebrate World Youth Day – without having to fly all the way to Brazil!

CAFOD would like to invite you to “WYD@Home” (World Youth Day at Home), a fantastic Catholic festival for young adults which will take place at Aylesford Priory (home to a community of Carmelite Friars who will be sharing their prayer and spirituality) in Kent from 26 to 29 July. The programme for the weekend is indeed impressive, with a vibrant mix of liturgy, music, catechesis, drama and moving talks and testimonies. The highlights of the weekend involve a night vigil of prayer and reconciliation on the Saturday evening and daily Mass celebrated by our bishops and priests.

The event will place during the week where young people from around the world will join Pope Francis in Rio to celebrate World Youth Day, and there will be linking  into what’s happening in Rio plus an opportunity to hear testimonies from pilgrims who have travelled to Brazil.

From tea time on Friday to lunch on Monday, Aylesford Priory will be transformed into a tented village, the centre of which will be a Big Top marquee next to the ancient Shrine. Options for the weekend include camping and some day ticket options. Weekend tickets start at only £75 and include all meals.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 is to be accompanied by an adult.

An exciting lineup of speakers and bands for the weekend have already been booked with more to be announced shortly. Among the speakers, Archbishops Vincent Nichols and Peter SmithFr. Christopher Jameson and David WellsCAFOD partners from Colombia, Fredy and César, will also be sharing with us their insights into the needs of the universal church in the developing world. There will be inspiring music throughout the weekend, with worship leader Jo Boyce and many Christian bands and artists.

If you have any questions/would like to book a place, please contact us and we will put you in touch with CAFOD’s Youth Team. A poster for the event can be downloaded here, see also the official website.

This is an opportunity not to be missed and an inspiring celebration celebration of what it means to be a young Catholic today, to share faith stories and experiences with peers and others from all over the country, to get  to work directly with some of CAFOD’s amazing partners and gain an insight into the global dimension of the Church.

Do not delay – book your place today!
