Join us on 8 June!

We are really looking forward to the big IF mobilisation in London on 8 June – which is coming closer and closer! it will be THE biggest event of the year – so please clear your diaries if you haven’t already done so, and make sure you come along!

We will be joining thousands of campaigners and supporters from the over 170 NGOs and agencies that are part of the Enough Food for Everyone IF coalition. The schedule of the day is as follows:

– 11.30am Ecumenical Service at Westminster Central Hall (opposite the Houses of Parliament). Archbishop Vincent Nichols will be one of the speakers

– the Ecumenical Service will be followed by a Walk of Witness to Hyde Park

– 2-5pm main event in Hyde Park, with speakers, live music and activities for all the family – children and young people are very welcome to come along and there will be plenty of activities for them! The list of speakers has now also been confirmed and there will be big names such as Bill Gates and Rowan Williams – for full information read here

Together with Christian Aid, Save the Children and Oxfam we have now booked 3 coaches which will stop in different towns in the diocese. The details of the coaches are below:

1) COACH 1 – starts in Swindon (Clifton diocese) and stops in Newbury, Reading and Maidenhead, tickets £12 each, under 14s go free. Poster downloadable here. Schedule as follows:

2) COACH 2 – starts in Southampton and stops in Winchester and Farnborough, tickets £15 each, under 14s go free. Poster available here. Schedule as follows (exact pick up points to be confirmed):

3) COACH 3 – starts in Portsmouth and stops in Havant, Petersfield and Guildford (Arundel and Brighton diocese), tickets £15 each, under 14s go free. Poster available here. Schedule as follows (exact pick up points to be confirmed):

Places are limited so if you would like to come along in one of our coaches, please book your place as soon as possible by emailing portsmouth@cafod.org.uk or calling us on 01252 329385, indicating the number of seats you require, the names of the passengers and whether there are any under 14. Alternatively you can fill in the contact form at the bottom of this post.

If you are coming along to the day but travelling by train from another town, please register your attendance with us as above, and we could also put you in touch with other people from your area who will be attending on the day. A general poster to promote the event in towns where there is no coach is available here.

For those of you attending the Ecumenical Service at Westminster Central Hall, please meet us at the CAFOD stall afterwards (which will be by the entrance) to join us for the Walk of Witness – we will have a couple of placards with CAFOD Portsmouth on them to help you identify us, as it will be very busy!

8 June will be our chance to tell world leaders that we want to see an end to global hunger – please join us and pray for the success of the event! 🙂
