Runners in the wind!

The freezing wind in Southsea last Saturday did not stop our team of brave Mini and Junior Great South runners from completing their challenge!

Approximately 15 children and young people from both our diocese and Arundel and Brighton took part in the popular event, supported by family and friends. They all put so much effort into it and we are so grateful for their enthusiasm and determination!

For most runners, this was the first Great South Run experience – but we were also very pleased to welcome once again Alex who took part for the third year in a row, this time alongside his sister Amy!

Mini runner Sammy put all his heart and soul into it and was among the first to complete the race! Huge congratulations!

A special thanks also goes to the St Mary’s Running Club from Bognor Regis and their organiser Duncan – they were the biggest CAFOD contingent taking part! Massive thanks to you all!

It was lovely to see everybody proudly showing off their medals afterwards – we really enjoyed the atmosphere and cheering you on.

Here is what some of our runners had to say after completing the race!

We are already looking forward to the Mini and Junior run 2013 and we hope the CAFOD team will get bigger and bigger! Thanks so much to everybody for taking part – we had a great day!
