Well, we managed to make the most of – what looks like – the last day of sun for a special BBQ down in Southampton last Saturday afternoon.
The party was organised by our Education Volunteer Coordinator (Roger Lillie) to say thank you to everyone at the University of Southampton’s Catholic Society who gave up so much of their time for CAFOD last academic year. Roger also cooked all the food too – which was delicious!
It was a lovely evening and a good opportunity to really express how grateful we are to everyone who spoke at Mass at local parishes, fundraised during Lent, supported our Thirst for Change campaign and visited local schools to deliver sessions on global justice. They were all fantastic!
We were really sad to lose some of the CAFOD team as they completed their courses and left last year – but I’m happy to say that we also saw some familiar faces who are continuing to volunteer this year too. Hooray!
We’re also hoping that more volunteers will come forward to join us this term. Anyone interested should email us here at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01252 329385 for more information or speak to Davide Zilli (Cath Soc Outreach Officer). (Those wishing to volunteer in schools will need to let us know this month and then attend a special training day on 3 November).
Thank you everyone!
