A Fairtrade Mardi Gras at St John’s Cathedral Catholic primary school

Fairtrade goodies for the winner!

Fairtrade Fortnight is just about to start – on 27 February. The theme this year is “Take a step” towards Fairtrade. However, pupils at St John’s Cathedral primary school in Portsmouth are ahead of the game!

On Mardi Gras, 21 February, they organised special pancake races at the school to get pupils and families to think about Fairtrade.

Staff, parent forum reps and children from Year 6 took part and the winners from each race competed against each other along with Canon David Hopgood from St John’s Cathedral. There was some serious competition but also lots of laughter and high spirits.

The overal winner, pictured above, received a full bag of Fairtrade goodies as a prize. An excellent way to start the fortnight!
