On Saturday 21 May, our parish contact Henry Rosenvinge in Lyndhurst organised a spring plant sale in aid of Connect2:Rwanda. It was a fantastic event! With the help of good weather and over 800 plants to choose from, lots of people went along and the event raised the overall fantastic sum of £1,130!!!!
Henry said: “We found that amongst the vegetable plants, beans and mange tout peas were the most popular. Sweet peas, bedding plants and hardy geraniums went quickly. About 40 cakes were made by parishioners and local villagers. All had gone by the end. Some intersesting old gardening tools had been donated with a top price of £30 being paid for a pair of shears on long handles enabling the purchaser to now cut the long grass without bending down!
There was a great deal of interest shown in the work of CAFOD, particularly in Connect2Rwanda. Although many miles and cultures away attenders knew that their generosity would in some way go to help the brave villagers of Musha rebuild their lives and community”.
We were absolutely delighted to hear that the event went so well! 🙂
