Walk for Justice – 26 June 2011

Last year we had a great time on “Walk the World”

After the success of last year’s sponsored walk “Walk the World” (in collaboration with the Department of Pastoral Formation), we have decided to run another sponsored walk this year – and we hope to get another lovely sunny day!Walk for Justice” will take place on Sunday 26 June in Bournemouth. We will start with a special blessing at 11am from Corpus Christi Parish Hall, 17/18 St James Square, Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH5 2BX. We will then make our way along the beautiful coastline to a picnic lunch at The Priory in Christchurch.

On the way we will pray together at several prayer stops and take action to bring about a world free from poverty and injustice. We should return to Boscombe at around 4.30pm for a final prayer and a cup of tea!

Please bring sensible footwear, a packed lunch, sunscreen, hat, and wet weather gear just in case! The walk is approximately 6 miles in total.  Please note that young people under the age of 18 must come along with an accompanying adult who will take responsibility for them throughout the event and stay with them at all times.  Car users are asked to avoid using the church car park on the day as this will be required for the 9.30am and 11am Masses.

There will room for approximately 40 cars at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (13-15 Parkwood Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth BH5 2DF – right next to St James’ Square), as they have kindly agreed to let us use some of their parking space free of charge. Please note that there are 2 car parks next to each other on Parkwood Road that both belong to the Chiropratic College. One of them will be used for a car boot sale – so please do not park there. The car park allocated to us will be clearly marked by CAFOD signs “Car park this way”.

Alternatively, the nearest public car park is Woodside Road, BH5 2BA. It is about 5 minutes walk from Corpus Christi parish hall, which is just off St James’ Square on Parkwood Road.  St James’ Square is not named on the map in the link above, but it is the square right next to the icon for ‘Anglo European College’. Please bring change for this car park.

Sponsorship forms are also available for those who wish to raise money for CAFOD on the day – most of you we hope!  Please book a place in advance to enable us to prepare adequately.  All walkers must register at Corpus Christi Parish Hall on the day before the start of the walk.

We look forward to a lovely day out – the beach there is fantastic!

Do come along if you are available and don’t forget to bring your friends, family, neighbours… everybody is very very welcome! 🙂

The beautiful Christchurch priory, where we will be stopping for lunch!
