St Joseph’s ‘River of Silver’ for CAFOD

Hooray for all the pupils, staff and parents at St Joseph’s RC Primary in Aldershot for coming up with another brilliant fundraising idea for CAFOD this Lent!

Mrs Sarah Marshall, RE Coordinator writes

“This year, for Lent Fast Day we asked children to ‘give something up’ or carry out extra jobs to earn some silver coins. The silver coins were placed on our walkway to form a ‘silver river’ and during the day, people added their contribution to the river.

It was actually pouring with rain all that day, so the river was very realistic and the coins were rather grubby by the end of the afternoon!

The School Committee and the Silver River!

We also collected for CAFOD at retiring collections after our three Lenten Liturgies over the past two weeks (one for each key stage) and I’m really pleased to say that we are sending off a cheque for £573.07!”

Thank you so much Mrs Marshall, all the teachers, staff and pupils who were involved in creating the silver river!  It looks great!
