Are you ready for Fairtrade Fortnight 2011? It is coming up soon- starting on 28 February and running til March 2011! The theme this year is “Show off your label“.
Visit the Fairtrade Foundation website for plenty of ideas and resouces to download/order – everything you need from a special bunting (to help break a world record!) to the Church Action Guide, posters, promotional flyers etc. This year, however, you get an extra chance to make Fairtrade Fortnight more special in our Diocese!
Our volunteer Hugh Gibbons has launched a great initiative – using Fairtrade Fortnight as an occasion for Fairtrade parishes (and schools) to renew their “Fairtrade vows”. It is a great chance to remind parishioners what the commitment to Fairtrade is about, and also to send a very visible public message that churches are great Fairtrade supporters.
Hugh has produced a suggested “ceremony” (ecumenical!) that can be easily adapted. It could be easily incorporated into a Mass – ideally during the Fortnight, but if that is not possible, it could be replicated at any other time throughout the year. For more information and to download the suggested script, visit Hugh’s Just1 website. If you are planning to take part in Hugh’s initiative, do let us know – and send pictures if you can!
