Jersey concert raises thousands for Haiti

On Thursday 18th February, St. Thomas’ Church in Jersey held a very special concert for Haiti. Our local supporter Philip McDermott reports….

“We pre-sold 310 tickets, and with another 50-80 paid at the door on the night, we had an attendance of nearly 400 people!  The star was the classical soprano Fiona Clucas, based in Manchester but well-known on the island – she was fantastic! The Band of Jersey opened the show.  What a sound – it filled the church.  There were also some Jersey-based classical professoinals and some amateurs.  The choirs were excellent.  The highlight of the concert was Fiona singing Pie Jesu in a duet with a 12-year old girl from the choir; real hair on the back of your neck rising stuff!”.

An incredible net sum of £3,664 was raised on the night in aid of CAFOD’s Haiti appeal!   Thank you so much to everybody who attended the concert for their tremendous support!
