Fundraising for Haiti

School volunteer Jean Watson collects the cheque from pupils at St Swithun's Primary school

On Monday 8th February, our school volunteer Jean Watson led a very well-received assembly about CAFOD’s work in Haiti at St Swithun’s Primary School in Southsea. Jean used the excellent Haiti Powerpoint for schools to explain what happened and how CAFOD was helping on the ground via our partners.

The children had been very touched after seeing the images from Haiti on the news, so they started raising money and haven’t stopped yet! To help people in Haiti, they brought in the contents of their money boxes and organised various events including cake stalls, raffles, sponsored silences, toy stalls and many other things.

They raised an amazing total of £1285.78 – which is still rising! The money will be split between CAFOD and Unicef.
A big thanks to Jean for delivering the assembly and to the children and the staff for their generosity!
