After nearly a whole year of waiting, yesterday the big day finally came… THE WAVE!!!!! 🙂
We had an amazing time at the event and we were so pleased to see so many of you turning up for such an important cause – we are sorry that we haven’t been able to meet everybody! Our Reading/Woodley/Maidenhead coach was packed with people and enthusiasm – and we are so hugely thankful to Rita for all her hard work organising it – it was definitely a great success!
After a smooth journey into London our day started with the Ecumenical service at the Methodist Central Hall, which was truly inspiring and the hall was absolutely packed with people – a sign that our churches and we as Christians are truly enganged with the issue, something to be proud of and hopeful about! Right after the service some of us headed to Brook Street to join other CAFOD supporters for the start of the march! We were very impressed to see such a massive CAFOD presence and so many of our blue hands waving all over the place – very inspiring!!
The carnival atmosphere made the march a realy happy occasion and everybody was more than determined to get their message across to world leaders – choruses of “What do we want? Climate Justice! And when do we want it? NOW!!” could be heard everywhere on the march! At 3pm everybody was ready around the Houses of Parlament to wave their hands and placards to send a final strong message to Gordon Brown and the UK government.
We were also blessed with good weather as the rain held off til the very final moment – there has obviously been a lot of prayer going on for that!
The conference in Copenaghen opens on Monday 7th – this is truly the time for all of us to pray for the success of the negotiations and to ensure that we can get a FAB deal -Fair, Ambitious and Binding.
Thanks to you all for being part of this!
WERE YOU AT THE WAVE??? Post your comments on the day and send us your photos – we’d be happy to post them!!
